Facility Expansion and New Technology Integration

Problem

A textile company was expanding its operations to incorporate a new manufacturing technology and build a dedicated facility to support it. A colleague had been leading the project but went on maternity leave, and I was asked to take over the engagement during the late stages of building construction. The project required coordination with the machinery manufacturer, and planning for a major facility transition — all while ensuring timelines, technical specifications, and budget constraints were met.

Action

After transitioning onto the engagement, I supported the project across several key workstreams:

Facility Readiness & Move Planning

  • Supported planning for relocating into the new building, including sequencing, risk considerations, and operational impacts.
  • Ensured stakeholders across operations, engineering, and leadership were aligned on timelines and expectations for the move and initial startup.

New Technology & Machinery Installation Coordination

  • Partnered with the machinery manufacturer to track build progress, verify technical specifications, and confirm timeline and budget alignment.
  • Facilitated communication between vendor teams and internal stakeholders to ensure requirements were fully understood and documented.
  • Helped coordinate early-stage planning for installation activities and integration into plant operations.
Result

The project progressed smoothly through the facility completion and machinery build phases, maintaining stability and forward momentum during the leadership transition. My contract was extended to support the machinery installation phase and continue assisting the company as they prepare for operational launch of the new technology.
